Veteran John H. Leeman Grave Marking
August 12, 2017, Galena, Kansas

A few of the attendees during the ceremony as the Turkey Creek Fusiliers bear the colors.

Our chapter was pleased to be invited to attend this special grave marking ceremony in Galena. Scott Sarley, of Campbell's Company Camp, SCV, is actively seeking to place military markers on Confederate graves that have yet to be marked. Several of our members were in attendance, with Betty Kemp, Graves - Historical Places Chairman, bringing both UDC greetings and a bit of history. In addition to material found here, visit our Facebook page for links to both print and television coverage, as well as video of the entire event shared by the Crawford County (Kansas) Historical Museum.

The day brought a wide range of ages who were interested in the marking

Members in the crowd begin with Mary Jane (purple skirt) with Sherry behind and continue right with Jean (white shirt), Sandi (blue shirt), and continue with Kay F. (blue) and Betty (yellow)

Betty brings greetings and a bit more history to the program

We hope Linda and Clara do consider our membership invitations

Isn't Betty as pretty as a picture?
